In her message, Duterte urged the public to remain vigilant and prepared for natural disasters, emphasizing the importance of disaster readiness amid the country's vulnerability to earthquakes and other calamities.
“Mga kababayan, patuloy tayong maging alerto at handa, lalo't hindi natin alam kung kailan maaaring tumama ang mga sakuna at kalamidad (My fellow countrymen, let us remain vigilant and prepared, particularly as we cannot predict when disasters and calamities will strike),” Duterte said.
Duterte also called on Filipinos to include the safety and well-being of fellow citizens in their prayers.
“Isama rin natin sa ating mga dasal ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa (Let us also pray for the safety of one and all),” she added.
The OVP said the visit aimed to provide moral support to affected communities and demonstrate solidarity with families and individuals recovering from the impact of the earthquake.
