Students protest alleged teacher misconduct at Parañaque high school
The Parañaque School Division Office releases a statement on the viral video allegedly involving a teacher and a student.
Hundreds of students gathered at the gate of Parañaque National High School–Main on Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue in Barangay San Dionisio on Monday, June 22, to condemn a male teacher allegedly involved in a viral video showing inappropriate conduct with a student inside a classroom.
The students walked out of their classrooms at around noon as the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Parañaque launched an investigation into reports and videos circulating on social media regarding the alleged abuse incident.
In a statement, the SDO said it is treating the allegations with the “utmost seriousness, urgency, and impartiality” and assured students, parents, and school personnel that appropriate action is being taken.
According to the SDO, it has initiated the necessary procedures in accordance with existing laws, Department of Education policies, child protection protocols, and due process requirements.
The office added that it is coordinating with the appropriate authorities for the proper handling of the case and the conduct of legal and administrative proceedings.
The viral video, which has sparked widespread outrage online, allegedly shows a male teacher and a student engaged in misconduct inside a classroom.
The SDO also appealed to possible victims and witnesses with relevant information to come forward and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
