Motorcycle crash in QC leaves 2 dead, 2 injured

A motorcycle rider and his passenger were killed, while two bystanders were injured, after their speeding motorcycle slammed into a gutter along San Mateo Road in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, before dawn on Sunday, June 21.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said CCTV footage showed the motorcycle losing control on a curved downhill portion of San Mateo Road before hitting the gutter and throwing the rider and his passenger onto the pavement.

Police reported that the motorcycle also struck two men who were standing along the roadside.

According to Police Capt. Paul Norman Lagural of QCPD Traffic Sector 5, the rider and his passenger had come from a drinking session when the accident occurred. They were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash, and both were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The two injured bystanders were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities reminded motorists to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and to always observe traffic rules, especially on curved and downhill roads prone to accidents.
