Individuals and families living on the streets were rescued during a nighttime outreach operation conducted by the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) in several areas of the city.
The operation covered Roxas Boulevard, Kalaw Avenue, Kartilya ng Katipunan, P. Ocampo Street, and the Legaspi Tower area.
It formed part of the city’s continuing efforts to assist vulnerable residents and connect them with temporary shelter, social services, and other forms of government support.
Those reached during the operation were taken to the Manila Reception and Action Center (RAC), where they underwent assessment and received appropriate interventions based on their individual needs and circumstances.
According to the MDSW, the center provides temporary accommodation, meals, counseling, medical assistance, and referrals to various government programs aimed at helping beneficiaries recover and reintegrate into the community.
The agency added that regular outreach operations are conducted in areas where individuals and families are frequently found staying in public spaces, particularly those exposed to health, safety, and environmental risks.
The MDSW vowed to protect the welfare and dignity of vulnerable sectors, especially children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and families in need of immediate assistance.
