Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera has called on the faithful to continue praying for the enlightenment and renewal of the nation amid ongoing concerns over corruption, injustice, and declining public trust.
In a pastoral message dated June 22, Garcera thanked bishops, priests, consecrated persons, and lay faithful for their continued participation in the Church’s campaign, “A Nation’s Prayer for Enlightenment, Conversion, and Renewal.”
“Your perseverance in prayer is a powerful witness of our trust in God and our love for our country,” the Lipa archbishop said.
Garcera said the faithful are encouraged to remain steadfast in prayer as the country faces persistent social and governance challenges.
“As our nation continues to confront the challenges of corruption, injustice, and the erosion of public trust, let us not lose hope,” he said.
He also acknowledged the White Ribbon March on June 28 at the EDSA People Power Monument, which is a faith-based and non-partisan call for truth, accountability, justice, and righteousness in public life.
Those who wish to join the gathering may do so “prayerfully and respectfully,” he said, guided by conscience and local circumstances.
He also encouraged the faithful to attend the Holy Mass on Sunday, highlighting the importance of the Eucharist.
“Do not forget to participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass on Sunday, June 28. The power of the Eucharist renews hearts and transforms lives, enabling us to become instruments of justice, reconciliation, and hope,” Garcera said.
He added that the faithful should continue entrusting the nation to the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who is currently being venerated across the country through the Pilgrim Image.
“Let us continue to pray for the enlightenment of minds, the conversion of hearts, and the renewal of our nation,” he said.
