A man posing as a police lieutenant was arrested in Quezon City after allegedly defrauding and harassing a woman he met through a dating application.
The suspect, identified as “Christian,” 40, from Lingayen, Pangasinan, was apprehended in Barangay Marilag at around 2 a.m. on June 18 after police confirmed his identity and pending cases.
Police said the woman filed a complaint against the suspect at around 10:40 p.m. on June 17 at Project 4 Police Station 8 for violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.
The complainant stated that she met the suspect through the dating application Tinder, where he introduced himself as a police lieutenant assigned to the Intelligence Group at Camp Crame. They later became live-in partners in Barangay San Roque.
She alleged that the suspect subjected her to harassment and repeatedly demanded money for personal expenses while maintaining his false police identity.
Acting on the complaint, operatives of Police Station 8 and Cubao Police Station 7 coordinated with the Barangay VAWC Desk of Barangay San Roque to verify the suspect’s identity and background.
Further verification through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) System revealed that the suspect had existing warrants of arrest issued by courts in Baguio City.
Records showed that he was wanted for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, issued in March 2024 by Branch 78 of the Regional Trial Court.
He was also wanted for usurpation of authority or official functions under Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code, issued in April 2024 by Branch 4 of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities.
