SHS student hurt after being stabbed by schoolmate in Cavite
CAVITE CITY – A senior high school student was injured after allegedly being stabbed by his schoolmate inside Cavite National High School on Friday, June 19.
The police report said both the victim and the suspect are 18 years old.
The initial investigation said that at 4:25 p.m., the two students got into a heated argument that later escalated into a fistfight.
During the altercation, the suspect reportedly drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the arms and lower back.
The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The suspect was arrested by the police, and the bladed weapon used in the incident was recovered from him.
In a statement on Saturday, June 20, the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Cavite City expressed a “deep concern regarding the unfortunate incident involving learners.”
The office said it is closely coordinating with the school administration and the authorities to ensure a thorough investigation and provision of necessary interventions, including psychosocial support and counseling.
They also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information.
The Philippine National Police, meanwhile, said that the stabbing in Cavite City on June 19 and an earlier incident where a Grade 8 student stabbed seven Grade 5 students in General Trias City on June 16 are both “being treated as isolated cases, pending the results of the ongoing investigation.”
Police units were directed to intensify visibility and conduct sustained preventive patrols in and around school zones, especially during school opening, recess, and dismissal hours.
