BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the drug-cleared status of 20 barangays here has been revoked due to the presence of active drug pushers.
Magalong, head of the City Peace and Order Council and City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CPOC-CADAC), said the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program revoked their drug-cleared status.
These barangays were Asin Road, Baguio Gold Compound, City Camp Proper, Country Club Village, Dominican Hill-Mirador, Irisan, Kabayanihan, Kayang Extension, Loakan Proper, Lopez Jaena;
Lower Lourdes Subdivision, Magsaysay Private Road, Middle Quezon Hill, Military Cut-off, Pacdal, San Antonio Village, San Roque Subdivision, Slaughterhouse Compound, Santo Nino Village, and Upper Market Subdivision.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Baguio reported that 58 drug-cleared city barangays applied to maintain their status. Only 20 were able to retain their drug-cleared status, 20 gained drug-cleared status, and 18 applications were deferred for about 60 days for further verification by the PDEA and the police.
Meanwhile, PDEA confirmed that vapes laced with marijuana are being sold in schools here after two devices and a lighter were confiscated and turned over by a school.
PDEA-Cordillera laboratory results confirmed that these tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive component of cannabis, confirming concerns about the presence of drug-laced vape products in school environments.
Authorities have strengthened efforts to prevent the spread of illegal drugs among students, protect educational institutions from drug-related activities, and arrest vendors.
