The SIBOL Mobile Legends: Bang Bang national team vented its ire on its Day 3 opponents, taking down Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia to claim a spot in the 2026 Asian Games at the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre on Saturday, June 20.
Getting their first taste of defeat against Cambodia on Friday, the Filipinos swept Myanmar, 2-0, survived Vietnam, 2-1, and then dominated Indonesia, 2-0, to hike their record to 5-1.
Head coach Allec Alvarado said the team's quick adjustment to the new patch played a key role in its successful campaign, which culminated in their qualification to the Asian Games after a sweep of Indonesia.
“Feeling malaking bagay sa amin na hindi pa rin sanay ang mga teams sa meta ngayon dahil sa bagong update. Masaya ako na nakapasok kami sa Asian Games at na-sweep namin yung Indonesia,” he said.
The Karl Nepomuceno-led squad opened Day 3 of the group stage with a convincing Game 1 victory against Myanmar, seizing full control after Dave Viana Jr. (Karrie) unleashed a triple kill in the 14th minute to headline a decisive 5-for-2 wipeout that swung the momentum firmly in the Philippines' favor for the remainder of the game.
Game 2 was a lopsided affair for the Filipinos as they led by as much as 11,100 on the economy before settling for a 17-minute clincher behind Jaypee Dela Cruz’ flawless 1-0-14 KDA.
SIBOL then surprisingly found themselves in a 1-1 series tie against Vietnam.
With their backs against the wall, the Philippine representatives banked on Cruz’ Mathilda in the decider as he led the charge with a 1-0-17 KDA to spark SIBOL’s 20-4 dominance on the kill score and clinch their second victory of the day.
SIBOL continued to play with momentum as it faced regional rival Indonesia, highlighting the dominant opening game showing with Alston Pabico’s double kill on Pharsa during the seventh minute turtle fight as they erected a 6,500 that they never relinquished the rest of the way.
With qualification secured, SIBOL can now shift its focus toward fine-tuning its preparations for the Asian Games, where the Philippines will seek to add another international medal to its rich Mobile Legends: Bang Bang legacy.
