TALISAY, Batangas – A family of three – a 59-year-old woman, her 35-year-old daughter, and two-year-old grandson – was stabbed to death by a 33-year-old relative inside their home in Barangay Aya here on Friday night, June 19.
The Talisay Municipal Police Station led by Police Major Cid Villanueva said the suspect was reportedly a son-in-law of the 59-year-old victim.
A six-year-old child of the 33-year-old woman was injured and recovering in a hospital.
Investigation said the suspect barged inside the victims’ house and stabbed the victims with a knife at around 10 p.m.
Two children of the 35-year-old victim – a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl – heard the commotion and jumped out of the window to seek help from neighboring relatives.
The suspect fled after the incident. Police arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in his home in Barangay San Roque, Santo Tomas, Batangas.
The 15-year-old girl positively identified the suspect.
Recovered from the suspect was the murder weapon and clothes he wore during the incident.
Police are investigating if the suspect killed the victims over a rape case filed by the 15-year-old girl against him.
The suspect is in the custody of the Talisay Municipal Police Station and faces appropriate charges.
