ALICIA, Isabela – Two police officers were cited for helping an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and his companion injured in an accident in Barangay San Fernando here on Thursday morning, June 19.
Initial investigation said the OFW lost control of his vehicle on a curved part of the road and plunged into a rice field. He and his passenger were injured.
Police Chief Master Sgt. Joanne V. Apostol of the Santiago City Police Office and Police Corporal Elmer Tomas of the Jones Police Station, who were on their way to work, stopped and remained with the victims until emergency responders arrived.
The victims were taken to a hospital and on their way to recovery.
The incident underscored the readiness of police personnel to respond even outside their regular duty posts, reflecting their continuing commitment to public service and road safety.
