The Las Piñas City government has once again achieved a perfect score in the Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA), further strengthening its reputation for effective coastal and fisheries resource management.
Mayor April Aguilar announced that the recognition was given during the Final Feedbacking to Coastal Local Government Units (LGUs), conducted via Zoom teleconference on June 17.
Aguilar said the city received a 100-percent rating in this year's audit, marking another major milestone in its efforts to protect marine ecosystems and ensure the sustainable management of coastal resources.
She emphasized that the achievement reflects the sustained commitment of the city government, particularly the City Agriculture Office, in implementing programs and policies aimed at conserving fisheries resources, enforcing environmental regulations, and promoting responsible coastal governance.
The mayor added that the accomplishment is especially notable given the city’s significant improvement in recent years.
From posting a low performance rating in 2020, Las Piñas successfully elevated its standing and has now earned a perfect FishCA score for the second time.
As a result of its outstanding performance, Las Piñas has once again been nominated for National Validation, making this the second consecutive year the city has qualified for the prestigious assessment.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Las Piñas Field Office lauded the city government and its partner agencies for their collective efforts in achieving the distinction.
This recognition underscores the effectiveness of the city’s environmental protection initiatives and highlights the importance of strong collaboration among local government offices, national agencies, and community stakeholders in safeguarding coastal and fisheries resources for future generations.
