A 22-year-old ex-convict was arrested after allegedly breaking into a house in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City, and stealing about P814,000 worth of cash and valuables while the owners were on vacation.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives from Talipapa Police Station (PS 3) apprehended the suspect, alias “Christian,” during a follow-up operation on June 18 at Fercon Street, Barangay Tandang Sora.
Police said the victim, together with his wife and child, left their home on June 14 and returned on June 17 to find jewelry, cash, and foreign currency missing.
CCTV footage showed the suspect scaling the back fence, forcibly entering the master’s bedroom, disabling security cameras, and fleeing with assorted valuables.
Recovered items included jewelry and foreign currencies worth about P573,000, along with P193,000 in cash. However, USD 800 (around P48,456) remains unrecovered.
The suspect refused to reveal the missing money’s whereabouts, saying, “I will speak only in court.”
QCPD Talipapa Police Station commander Police Lt. Col. Von DV Alejandrino credited CCTV footage and coordination with local officials for the quick identification and arrest.
Records show the suspect had prior cases for drug violations and illegal gambling in 2019 and 2023.
He is now detained at the Talipapa Police Station custodial facility and faces robbery charges.
