TIAONG, Quezon – The Bayan ni Juan Festival 2026 kicked off here on Thursday, June 18.
Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea formally opened the week-long event on its fourth year.
The festival until June 24 was organized by the municipal government with the parish pastoral council in honor of patron saint John the Baptist.
The opening salvo was a mass dancing to the official festival music led by Mea, Sangguniang Bayan, local government unit heads, and barangay officials with the Tiaong Dance Troupe.
Mea said the festival demonstrates unity of the people of Tiaong who continue to flourish in their culture, tradition, and identity as a vibrant and prosperous community.
He said that popular artists and band were invited to perform during the event.
About 18 children were baptized during a mass baptism conducted by the LGU at the Saint John the Baptist Church here on Friday, June 19.
Mea stood as godfather in the event officiated by parish priest Rev. Edwin Baruelo. All expenses were shouldered by the municipal government. Mea gifted money to the newly baptized children. Parents thanked Mea who initiated the event in 2023.
