All residents safe after fire hits Manila building

Residents of a mid-rise building in Santa Cruz, Manila, were safely evacuated after a fire broke out on Friday morning, June 19. Firefighters were also seen attempting to revive a dog that had been trapped inside.

Smoke was first reported at around 8:30 a.m. at the Golden Valley Building at the corner of Tomas Mapua and Recto Avenue.

The fire escalated to first-alarm by 8:34 a.m., prompting an immediate response from the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The blaze struck the residential structure, with occupants initially reported trapped.

Authorities immediately launched rescue operations alongside fire suppression efforts, successfully evacuating all residents from the building.

During the operation, a dog that had been reportedly left inside the structure was retrieved by responders.

A firefighter was seen administering aid to the animal, although its condition has yet to be disclosed.

The fire was declared out at 9:22 a.m., contained in less than an hour.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
