A suspect died while a police officer was injured in a stone-throwing incident in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City, on June 16.
The confrontation occurred along the National Road after a citizen sought help from a patrolling police team about a man who was throwing stones and causing a disturbance.
Responding to the call, a three-member Muntinlupa police team arrived at the area. As they were about to park their service vehicle, the suspect hurled a stone at the mobile unit, shattering a side window and injuring one of the officers.
Police said the suspect then drew a knife and attempted to stab the wounded officer. His companion quickly intervened, firing his service gun to neutralize the threat.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and tried to flee but was restrained and arrested.
Authorities requested assistance from the Muntinlupa Department of Disaster Resilience and Management, which transported him to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa. He was declared dead on arrival.
Col. Olivia Ancheta, Muntinlupa police chief, said they are coordinating with the barangay to identify the slain suspect.
Meanwhile, the injured police officer was taken to the Medical Center of Muntinlupa and is scheduled to undergo surgery at the PNP General Hospital in Camp Crame.
The Southern Police District has extended financial assistance for the officer’s medical expenses and requested the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team to conduct an investigation into the incident.
