Korean actress Nam Bora welcomes baby boy via emergency C-section
Korean actress Nam Bora, 36, has given birth to her first child after undergoing an emergency Cesarean section on June 15.
The actress, known for her roles in hit dramas including “Moon Embracing the Sun,” “It’s Beautiful Now,” “Live Your Own Life,” and “Lovers in Bloom,” announced the arrival of her son, nicknamed Kong-al, on June 17.
Nam Bora married businessman Lee Chan-woo on May 10 last year and revealed her pregnancy in December.
“Kong-al is adapting so calmly, as if in his second life,” she shared in a post.
According to the actress, she had been preparing for a natural delivery through regular exercise and a strict diet. However, a last-minute complication during her final prenatal check-up changed everything.
“During my last regular check-up before delivery, the doctor told me there was almost no amniotic fluid left. They said natural delivery and induced labor were no longer possible, and that if I waited longer, the baby could be at risk, so I ended up having an emergency C-section,” she revealed.
Nam Bora said she was overwhelmed and broke into tears upon hearing the news, but managed to gather herself before being rushed into surgery. She gave birth at 8:24 p.m. KST.
She expressed gratitude despite the unexpected delivery, saying she was thankful to the medical staff at Dongdaemun’s Lin Women’s Hospital, as well as her husband, family, and friends for their support.
“It is a shame that I couldn’t have a natural birth, but I am grateful that my baby was born healthy,” she said.
In a follow-up post, Nam Bora shared that she is recovering well in the hospital and that she and her husband have chosen to bank their baby’s cord blood.
