Mikee Quintos and Mikoy Morales bring magic to Tondo kids in surprise visit
By Neil Ramos
For many of the children in Helping Land, Tondo, actors Mikee Quintos and Mikoy Morales aren't just television stars. They're fantasy royalty from "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," a story world that has captured their imagination through characters that represent strength, courage, and hope.
So when the two recently visited the community, the children's eyes immediately lit up. They were visibly shocked to see their heroes in person. But more than anything, they were happy to finally meet them, talk to them, and share a few moments together.
According to Mikoy, it all began when the GoodZone team told him how much the children in the community admired him. They shared how the kids regularly watched "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," particularly scenes involving his character, Agnem.
Touched by what he heard, Mikoy reached out to his friend and co-star Mikee Quintos, who plays Lira, and invited her to join him in visiting the children.
On June 10, Mikoy and Mikee arrived in Tondo not as screen heroes, but as real-life guests showing up for children who had already made them part of their world.
Throughout the day, the two joined feeding activities, played games, and personally handed out gifts to each child, including food packs, school supplies, and slippers. Simple items, but meaningful in a community where support often comes in small but powerful forms.
One of the day's most emotional moments came during a weigh-in party led by a licensed nutritionist-dietitian. The event marked the first such gathering at the community center and celebrated the progress of 200 children participating in an ongoing nutrition program.
As names were called and improvements announced, the room erupted in cheers. Small health milestones became shared victories as children, parents, and volunteers celebrated together.
For many families, the impact of the program extends beyond food assistance. Parents spoke about the importance of consistent support and the positive changes they have seen in their children's health and well-being.
More than a celebrity visit, the day became a reminder of how meaningful simple acts of connection can be.
GoodZone, a feeding initiative supported by community partners, continues to provide nutrition support and services for children in Helping Land.
