Jeepney X E101 Class II Modern Electric Jeepney
Distributed locally by Jeepney X Inc., the E101 is designed to address one the main challenge facing public utility vehicle operators: rising fuel costs. By replacing the traditional diesel powertrain with a fully electric drivetrain, the E101 can significantly lower operating expenses while supporting the country’s modernization efforts.
At over five meters long and more than two meters wide, the E101 can comfortably accommodating 22 seated passengers, excluding standing occupants. The vehicle’s cabin has been thoughtfully designed to make life easier for both drivers and commuters.
The driver benefits from an ergonomically designed cockpit featuring an adjustable bucket seat with headrest, electric power steering, and a toggle-switch operated automatic transmission. A modern dashboard layout incorporates a color instrument cluster with a multi-information display, there's also a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
Passenger comfort has also been considered. The Class II configuration utilizes side-facing cushioned bench seating, while an electric folding passenger door helps improve accessibility and operational convenience.
Safety is a main consideration. The E101 comes equipped with seatbelts for front occupants, large side mirrors with auxiliary ball mirrors, emergency safety hammers, stainless handrails with grab handles, a fire extinguisher, emergency shut-off switch, and a mechanical parking brake.
Powertrain
The E101 utilizes a 72-volt, 240-amp AC asynchronous electric motor that drives the rear wheels. While its maximum output of 15 kW or approximately 20 horsepower may seem modest, the setup is specifically engineered for inner-city routes where low-speed efficiency matters. The vehicle’s top speed of 35 kilometers per hour aligns perfectly with stop-and-go urban operations.
Energy is supplied by two 52-kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery packs. These batteries feature IP54 protection against dust and water splashes and are accessible from both sides of the vehicle. More importantly, they are designed to be swappable, allowing operators to minimize downtime and maximize vehicle utilization.
The E101 can travel up to 150 kilometers on a single charge, making it suitable for many daily transport routes within metropolitan areas.
Price
The Jeepney X E101 is priced at ₱2.65 million for the non-air-conditioned version and ₱2.875 million for the air-conditioned variant. To further strengthen operator confidence, Jeepney X backs the vehicle with a three-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty covering the electrical system, and the battery packs.
As the Philippines continues its transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions. This option is ideal for transport operators looking to future-proof their business while addressing the realities of uncertain fuel prices.
