Iloilo prov'l gov't driver falls in drug sting; P7-M shabu seized

ILOILO CITY – A regular driver of the Iloilo provincial government was arrested and more than P7-million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a buy-bust operation in Santa Barbara, Iloilo on Wednesday, June 17.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU) identified the suspect as Giovani Adelantar, a resident of Janiuay, Iloilo.

Adelantar, who was apprehended by the IPPO-PDEU led by Police Major Dadje Delima, was assigned to the provincial motor pool under the Iloilo Provincial Engineering Office for 15 years.

Recovered from the suspect was 1.14 kilos of shabu.

Delima said Adelantar is a major distributor of shabu in several areas in the first, second, and third districts of Iloilo.

Adelantar allegedly used trucks owned by the provincial government in distributing shabu.

Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. said Adelantar will face criminal and administrative cases.
