Cainta eyes boosted campaign vs bullying

Cainta, Rizal Mayor Kit Nieto has vowed to intensify Cainta’s campaign against bullying, strengthening programs that protect students and provide safe spaces for young people.

The move comes after Quezon City Councilor Alfred Vargas visited the town on Tuesday, June 16, to commend Nieto’s initiatives and exchange ideas on tackling bullying both inside and outside schools.
Nieto emphasized that Cainta has already established teen centers in various high schools, giving students access to counseling and support services.
These centers are staffed by doctors and youth development officers who address different forms of bullying—verbal, physical, and online—through a systematic approach.
Victims are encouraged to report incidents so they can be properly assisted, while those involved in bullying cases are summoned and dealt with accordingly to ensure the safety of victims.
To further strengthen the campaign, Nieto announced that a new program will be launched in August, with teams from the local government visiting schools to conduct talks on bullying prevention.
Vargas, who has long advocated against bullying, underscored the importance of protecting young people from abuse and ensuring they enjoy a safe learning environment.
Meanwhile, the two officials expressed hope that through coordination between the government, schools, and parents, public awareness of the Anti-Bullying Act would be further strengthened.
