Motorcycle theft suspect nabbed in Rizal after family tip-off

A 22-year-old man, who allegedly stole a motorcycle in Quezon City, was arrested in Rodriguez, Rizal at dawn on Monday, June 15, after his relatives tipped off police about his location.
Victim, a 34-year-old foreman, reported his Honda Click 125 motorcycle missing after he left it parked with the key still inserted at the corner of Sgt. Esguerra Avenue and Scout Madriñan Street, Barangay South Triangle on June 10.
CCTV footage showed the suspect loitering in the area before taking the motorcycle and fleeing after allegedly borrowing a helmet nearby.
Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), led by Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, tracked the suspect through CCTV footage, which led them to his relatives in Barangay Tatalon.
The relatives reportedly identified the suspect from the footage and led police to his location in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Alias “Joey” was arrested at 4:30 a.m. at his residence by personnel of Kamuning Police Station (PS 10) under Police Lt. Col. Aljun Belista.
The stolen motorcycle has yet to be recovered after it was reportedly sold for ₱14,000.
During questioning, the suspect admitted the theft, saying he was driven by poverty and used the proceeds to buy food and household needs.
He now faces charges for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act while efforts continue to recover the stolen motorcycle.
