CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, La Union – Three-hundred twelve loose firearms were presented to Police Regional Office-1 chief Police Brig. Gen. Jovencio Badua during an inspection with Pangasinan police chief Police Col. Dennis de Leon Tuesday in Lingayen, Pangasinan.
These firearms were surrendered, deposited, confiscated, and recovered through various police operations and community engagements in the province.
Ninety-five were voluntarily surrendered – 49 shotguns, 15 pistols, 27 revolvers, and four low-powered firearms.
One-hundred ninety-seven firearms were deposited for safekeeping, 13 firearms were confiscated during law enforcement operations, and seven firearms were recovered in separate police actions.
Police said the accomplishment reflects the effectiveness of intensified anti-criminality efforts and the cooperation of the public in supporting the campaign against loose firearms.
Badua reaffirmed the commitment of the Philippine National Police to ensure the safety and security of Pangasinenses.
