A bus conductor was killed and six other individuals were injured after a passenger bus crashed into a parked six-wheel truck on Marcos Highway in Baguio City before dawn on Tuesday, June 16.
Initial investigation by the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) revealed that the incident occurred around 2 a.m. at Kilometer 6.
The Genesis bus was headed towards Baguio City from Manila when it slammed into the rear of the truck parked on the roadside due to a fuel injection pump problem.
The fatality—a bus conductor and resident of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan— was pinned near the front door of the bus.
Responders from the Baguio City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)- Tuba, and 911 on Call extricated the victim who was declared dead in a hospital.
Six other individuals sustained injuries from the impact, including the bus driver and an occupant of the truck. They were taken to a nearby hospital.
The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles.
The case has been referred to the Baguio Traffic Enforcement Unit. Ongoing investigations will determine exact liabilities and full property damage.
