Six barangay chairpersons from across Manila were recognized on Monday, June 15, as the Most Outstanding Barangay Chairmen for 2026 in an awarding ceremony led by Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
The awardees, representing the city’s six districts, were cited for their leadership and service to their respective communities.
Recognized were Dionisio Litiaco Jr. of Barangay 103 (District 1), Revelyn Alegoaria of Barangay 199 (District 2), Armand Aquino of Barangay 385 (District 3), Angelito Dula of Barangay 424 (District 4), Antonio Quirante of Barangay 752 (District 5), and Irene Rillo of Barangay 631 (District 6).
The awarding ceremony forms part of the city government’s efforts to highlight exemplary local governance at the barangay level, recognizing officials who have demonstrated effective public service, community leadership, and commitment to their constituents.
Domagoso also invited Manileños to take part in the upcoming Araw ng Maynila celebration on June 24, assuring residents of activities lined up by the city government.
“See you on June 24... Gagawin nating memorable ang Araw ng Maynila para sa mga Manileño,” he said (We will make Araw ng Maynila memorable for Manileños).
The mayor said the celebration forms part of the broader Buwan ng Maynila, a month-long series of activities highlighting the city’s history, culture, and community programs.
City officials said various events are being planned throughout June to engage residents while showcasing Manila’s heritage and ongoing initiatives.
Domagoso, who personally led the rites, emphasized the vital role of barangay leaders in delivering frontline services and maintaining order and welfare in their communities.
City officials and department heads also attended the event, joining the recognition of the awardees’ contributions to grassroots governance in Manila.
