Coming off an opening-day victory over Pakistan, the Filipinos stayed unbeaten at 2-0 in Group A and remained tied with Indonesia at the top of the standings
"This second win is good for us. If we win our next match, we will surely get our spot in the main event of the Asian Games in Nagoya," said head coach Gerald Gelacio.
Despite the strong start, Gelacio emphasized that the team remains focused on the task at hand and is not looking beyond its next opponent.
"Focused pa rin ngayon ang team kasi di pa naman totally tapos ang qualifiers. About sa gameplay naman natin, nalalaro naman natin onstage yung mga pinapractice namin sa scrims."
The Filipinos will try to book their ticket to Nagoya when they return to action on Wednesday, June 17 against third-running Uzbekistan.
SIBOL wasted little time asserting control in Game 1, racing to a 7–0 kill lead by the fifth minute behind Chammy Paul Nazarrea’s early five-kill performance.
Jungler Justine Ritchie Valencia Tan then helped secure an ace with a triple kill in the sixth minute, as the Philippines quickly regained control after a brief Mongolian response. The opening game ended in under eight minutes.
In Game 2, midlaner Dragon Hart Dajao powered an early surge with a double kill in the second minute, helping SIBOL build a 3,000-gold lead. He later added a triple kill in a fifth-minute skirmish that stretched the advantage to 10,000 gold as the Filipinos closed out the match in six minutes.
