PUP Broadcasting students wrap up probinsya-inspired morning show 'Umagang Ani!'
Following weeks of intensive preparation, BA Broadcasting 2-2N students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) have finally wrapped up their much-awaited live television production, "Umagang Ani!." Serving as an official entry to the Department of Broadcasting's third Breakfast Television Festival 2026, this unique morning show experience streamed live on June 13, 2026, via the official PUP BroadCircle Facebook page.
Swaying from the typical city setting morning programs, Umagang Ani! delivered a "probinsya-inspired" broadcast experience. The production was intricately designed to revamp the classic morning show format by integrating timely news programs and segments focused on amplifying stories dedicated to the narratives of Filipino farmers and fisherfolk.
Amidst intense pressure in a real-time broadcast setting, these sophomore broadcasting students managed to handle each and every aspect of the production, including floor directing and technical aspect to hosting and live field reporting.
Looking back on the journey, executive producer Jhon Carlo L. Ramo shared the challenges and the fulfillment the team experienced throughout the production.
"Siguro yung pinakamalaking challenge na kinaharap namin as a prod ay yung logisitics at yung unpredicted elements ng on-location shoots sa Quezon, sabayan mo pa ng pressure of performing a live broadcast where everything has to be perfectly timed," Ramo stated. "Pero ngayon na natapos na namin siya, sobrang nakakataba ng puso. Grabe yung pagod at puyat from planning and brainstorming weeks ago up to the actual live airing, kaya seeing all our hard work pay off on screen is really fulfilling. Solid ang buong team.”
This broadcast came as a significant breakthrough for the entire block as they were pushed to go out of their comfort zone. The entire production process has been commended by their peers and even the faculty as being extremely similar to professional standard television network broadcasts.
