As more Filipinos rely on mobile and internet connectivity for work, education, emergencies, and everyday life, Globe is accelerating its shift toward renewable energy and more energy-efficient technologies to help strengthen network resilience amid rising fuel costs and growing energy-related risks. The company said building a more efficient and resilient network has become increasingly important as energy supply and price fluctuations continue to affect industries globally.

In commemoration of World Environment Day, the company highlighted its initiatives to transition to clean energy during the Solar & Storage Live Philippines Conference 2026. The gathering of energy industry leaders, policymakers, technology providers, and sustainability advocates was addressed by Raymond Aguilar, Globe Vice President for Risk and Property Management, who presented the company’s “Net Zero Blueprint,” outlining Globe’s ongoing transition toward a greener and more resilient network.

“The company’s adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions have helped address risks related to fuel supply and price increases, and support more local and indigenous energy sources,” said Aguilar. “As more people depend on connectivity in their daily lives, building a more resilient and energy-efficient network also allows us to be prepared for both near-term & long-term operational and energy-related challenges,” Aguilar adds.

The company said its shift toward renewable energy has also helped reduce exposure to fluctuations and increases in imported fuel prices, particularly coal and oil. These initiatives helped mitigate the impact of increased oil prices starting in early 2026.

As of end-May 2026, Globe transitioned approximately 700 sites to renewable energy through the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). This forms part of Globe’s broader target to transition at least 3,000 sites to renewable energy by 2028. These support Globe’s broader efforts to maintain stable operations while helping manage long-term energy-related risks.

Alongside renewable energy adoption, Globe has also invested in energy efficiency improvements across its network to better manage electricity consumption as part of its broader strategy to build a “Green Network”, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening long-term business resilience.

Globe also contributes to the Philippine government’s broader sustainability and energy transition goals. By supporting renewable energy adoption, the company helps advance the Department of Energy’s target of increasing renewable energy’s share in the country’s energy mix to 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. Globe said these efforts support the Philippines’ commitment to achieve a 75% projected emissions reduction and avoidance target from 2020 to 2030 under its nationally determined contribution (NDC) aligned with the 2015 Paris Agreement.
