ILOILO CITY – A bomb threat rocked the Iloilo Provincial Capitol and Iloilo City Hall on Sunday, June 14.
Police said that the person behind these will face appropriate criminal charges.
“Kakasuhan ang dapat kakasuhan at ipapakulong ang dapat ikulong (Charges will be filed and those responsible will be imprisoned),” said Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, Police Regional Office-6 chief, on Monday, June 15.
On Sunday, Facebook account “Djbobzkie Montero” sent a message to the Iloilo City government’s Facebook page that a bomb was planted at the Iloilo City Hall and Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
The Iloilo City Police Office-City Explosives and Canine Unit (ICPO-CECU) found no bombs during an inspection.
ICPO police chief Police Col. Wilbert Parilla said they are coordinating with the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-6 to identify the account that sent the bomb threat.
Parilla said they have yet to ascertain the suspect’s motive but reiterated that the act is a serious criminal offense.
“False threats create fear, disrupt government operations, and waste valuable government resources. The ICPO will pursue appropriate legal action against individuals who endanger public safety through irresponsible online posts, as the evidence warrants,” Parilla said.
