BACOLOD CITY – Police said that a 36-year-old teacher who was initially reported to have been stabbed to death was instead allegedly poisoned by a senior high school student in his house in Barangay Alijis here on Friday, June 12.
Police Capt. Jay-r Reyes, head of Police Station 7, said that the 24-year-old suspect admitted that he forced his teacher to drink a strong chemical while they were having a drinking session.
Reyes said that responding policemen smelled strong chemical at the victim’s house, believed to be muriatic acid.
The suspect said that he was irked when the victim jokingly asked him to drink it.
Police said that the suspect was observed to be drunk while the teacher was unconscious on the floor when they arrived.
Reyes said that a portion of the ceiling was damaged which the suspect might have used as an escape route.
Neighbors called for police assistance when they heard a loud noise at the victim’s house.
Reyes said they are awaiting result of the autopsy to determine the cause of death as no injuries were seen on the victim’s body.
He added that the teacher and the student do not belong in one school. The suspect faces a murder case.
