New food hub rises in Ongpin, fueling Binondo's growth

“Thank you for your continued trust in the city. Rest assured that no harm will come to you, no abuse will come to you,” the mayor said.

Located on the second floor of the TMT Gold Center on Tambacan Street in Santa Cruz, across Ongpin Tower, the food court offers a range of affordable Filipino-Chinese comfort food.

City officials said the new food destination is expected to further strengthen economic activity in Binondo, widely recognized as the world’s oldest Chinatown, by drawing both tourists and local diners.

The opening of the Ongpin Food Court is part of ongoing efforts to revitalize key commercial areas in Manila, particularly heritage districts such as Binondo, through the promotion of food tourism and local entrepreneurship.

Officials noted that accessible dining spaces, such as the food court, not only provide livelihood opportunities but also contribute to preserving the cultural identity of Chinatown through its cuisine.

Binondo remains one of Manila’s top tourist destinations, known for its historic streets, temples, and longstanding culinary traditions that reflect a blend of Filipino and Chinese influences.
