PWD killed in Laguna fire

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna – A 58-year-old Person with Disability (PWD) was killed and six families lost their homes in a one-hour fire in Barangay San Vicente here on Thursday morning, June 11.

Police identified the victim as Ricky.

The fire started at about 7:34 a.m. and was declared under control at about 8:18 a.m.

Arson investigators said the victim was trapped and failed to get out of his house, and firefighters discovered his body at 10:30 a.m.

Four houses were destroyed in the fire.

Firemen are determining the cause of the fire and damage to property.

Meanwhile, an unidentified person was killed in a fire in Barangay Malamig, Binan City, this province, before dawn on Wednesday.

The fire started at 2:56 a.m. and declared under control and fire out at about 3:46 a.m.

The victim's body was recovered during clearing operations.

The Bureau of Fire Protection has yet to determine the cause of the fire and damage to property.
