The Pasay City government has advised motorists to plan their trips on June 13 as the Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) will implement temporary road closures to accommodate the Galaxy Manila Marathon (21K).
According to TPMO head Ferdinand Lee, road closures will be enforced from 1:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., as thousands of runners are expected to join the event.
Lee said the temporary road closures are necessary to ensure participants' safety and facilitate the smooth conduct of the marathon.
The affected roads along the race route include SM MOA Block 16/20, Seaside Avenue, Macapagal Avenue (with a zipper lane on the northbound side for vehicles), the northbound lane of Jalandoni Street, Sotto Street (with a zipper lane on the PICC and Star City side), the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard, roads within the Manila area covered by the race route, Atang Dela Rama Street (with a zipper lane on the PICC side), and Buendia Extension, which will also feature a zipper lane.
Additional TPMO personnel will be deployed in the affected areas to assist motorists and ensure orderly traffic flow throughout the event.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time, expect possible delays, and use alternative routes whenever possible.
Commuters traveling through affected areas are likewise advised to monitor traffic advisories and follow the instructions of traffic enforcers on the ground.
The Galaxy Manila Marathon is expected to draw a large number of participants, with organizers emphasizing that the temporary road closures are necessary to provide a safe and secure environment for runners and the public.
