The Caloocan City government paid tribute to Gat Andres Bonifacio during the 128th Philippine Independence Day celebration at the Bonifacio Monument on Friday, June 12.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan led the ceremony together with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, 1st District Rep. Oca Malapitan, other public officials, and representatives from various sectors.
In his message, Mayor Malapitan reminded Filipinos that the peace, freedom, and rights they enjoy today were made possible by the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes.
On this Independence Day, let us all remember that the peace, freedom, and respect for our rights that we enjoy today are owed to heroes like Gat Andres Bonifacio, who gave everything because they hoped for a better condition for our country),” Malapitan said.
Malapitan also urged the youth, especially Batang Kankaloo, to continue the work of the country’s heroes by helping bring the nation closer to the future they once dreamed of.
The mayor likewise called on public servants to become examples of love for the country by providing honest, effective, and clean service to the people.
We all know that our country has been going through many challenges since last year, but my challenge to my fellow public servants is that we must be examples of love for the country and give hope to our people through honest, effective, and clean service),” Malapitan said.
