A man who had been evading authorities for nearly three years in connection with a murder case in Bohol -- allegedly linked to a love triangle -- was arrested in Pasig City on June 10.
The Eastern Police District (EPD), in coordination with the Clarin Municipal Police Station of the Bohol Provincial Police Office, apprehended the suspect, identified as “Bonne,” who was tagged as the No. 1 most wanted person at the regional level.
He was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by the presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Seventh Judicial Region, Branch 49, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Based on the investigation, the crime allegedly stemmed from a personal dispute, believed to be a love triangle, occurred on Nov. 1, 2023, in Barangay Nahawan, Clarin, Bohol.
Police record showed that the victim, “Ronald,” who had just returned from Manila, was inside his home when the suspect, who allegedly pretended to have a mental disability, suddenly appeared wearing a bonnet and a black jacket.
The suspect then shot the victim for no apparent reason, using an undetermined firearm.
Authorities added that the victim attempted to run outside the house to save himself, but the suspect chased him and repeatedly shot him in vital parts of the body, causing his immediate death. The suspect reportedly fled to the grassy area of Barangay Cantoyoc, Clarin.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the Pasig CPS Custodial Facility while awaiting a commitment order from the court in Bohol.
Brig. Gen. Melecio M. Buslig Jr., EPD officer-in-charge, said that the operation shows how coordination among PNP units helps ensure justice is served.
“Walang puwang sa ating lipunan ang mga nagtatago sa batas, gaano man kalayo ang kanilang takbuhan o katagal ang kanilang pagtatago (Those who hide from the law have no place in our society, no matter how far they run or how long they stay in hiding),” he said.
