Bittersweet goodbye: The Rose to reunite with Manila fans before hiatus
For Filipino Black Roses, The Rose's upcoming concert in Manila is shaping up to be more than just another stop on a world tour. It will be a chance to celebrate a decade of music, memories, and connection before the beloved Korean band takes an indefinite break.
Alternative pop-rock band The Rose, composed of Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon, and Taegyeom, will bring its "Rosetopia Asia Tour 2026" to Manila on Aug. 15 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, in what many fans see as a meaningful farewell, at least for now.
The announcement comes months after the band revealed plans to go on hiatus following the release of their upcoming album "Rose" and the conclusion of the "Rosetopia" tour.
For fans who have followed The Rose through its highs and lows over the past decade, the Manila concert carries added emotional weight. It may be one of the last opportunities to see the four members perform together before they step away to focus on personal growth and individual journeys.
"One last night to hold onto the music that never left. The songs that found and stayed with you—you’ll finally get to experience them again, live," promoter L-Squared Productions wrote in announcing the concert.
In an emotional message posted on Instagram in April, the band assured fans that the hiatus is not a permanent goodbye.
"With our upcoming album 'ROSE' and the tour 'ROSETOPIA', we want to close this chapter with you the way it deserves," The Rose said.
"After this, we will be taking a break. Not as an ending, but as a moment to breathe, to grow, and to find ourselves again, individually. So that one day, we can come back to you with even more to give."
The group added, "This isn’t goodbye. It’s just... once in a blue moon."
The announcement resonated deeply with fans around the world, many of whom have found comfort and companionship in the band's music.
Reflecting on their 10-year journey together, the members described The Rose as more than just a band.
"For the last 10 years, The Rose has been our home, our safe place, our reason to keep going," they shared.
"Through every stage, every city, and every moment, you were there with us. The Rose has been our biggest cushion to fall into, a place where our lives existed fully and completely."
"Maybe that’s why this moment feels so heavy and so beautiful at the same time."
That same mix of gratitude, sadness, and hope is likely to fill the arena when The Rose takes the stage in Manila. While fans prepare to sing along to the band's biggest hits, many will also be cherishing what could be one of their final shared moments with the group for the foreseeable future.
Tickets for The Rose's "Rosetopia Asia Tour 2026" in Manila will go on sale beginning June 30.
