BACOLOD CITY – Two men were killed by a speeding sedan driven by the son of a barangay councilor in Purok 2, Barangay Tuyom, Cauayan, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, June 10.
Police identified the fatalities as 40-year-old Dolfo and Junior, 59, residents of Barangay Tuyom.
Police Lt. Col. Norberto Barniso, Cauayan police chief, said the two friends were on their way home on a tricycle from a birthday when the car driven by Bert rammed the rear of their vehicle.
The victims were declared dead in a hospital due to serious injuries. Bert was unharmed.
The accident was captured by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera that circulated online.
Police said Bert alleged that he failed to see the tricycle driven by Dolfo due to the dark tint of the windshield. Police said Bert just borrowed the car to go somewhere.
The victims’ families will pursue a criminal complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to properties against Bert who had no driver’s license.
Police said complaint will be under regular filing after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary period for inquest proceedings.
