K-pop group Big Bang has announced a long-awaited world tour marking the 20th anniversary of their debut, but for many Filipino fans, the excitement comes with disappointment: The Philippines was left out of the lineup.
The tour marks the group’s first full concert run since 2017 and brings together G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung for 31 shows across Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia.
It also follows their recent appearance at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and their 2022 release “Still Life,” their first new music in four years.
The tour will kick off on Aug. 21, at Goyang Stadium in South Korea before moving through major cities including Oakland, New Jersey, Paris, London, Singapore, Bangkok, Hanoi, Sydney, Tokyo, Osaka, and others.
For Filipino fans, the omission feels especially significant given the group’s history in the country.
Big Bang has performed in the Philippines twice as a full group. Their past concerts include the “Alive Galaxy Tour” in 2012, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, and the “MADE World Tour” in 2015, at the same venue.
In addition to full-group visits, individual members have also held solo performances in the country over the years, further strengthening their connection with Filipino audiences.
Most recently, Taeyang performed in Manila for his solo “The Light Year” tour, drawing strong local turnout and renewed interest in the group’s collective return.
Online reactions from Filipino fans reflected a mix of nostalgia and disappointment, with many expressing hope that additional dates may still be added.
For longtime supporters eager to see the “OGs” of K-pop live again, the absence of Manila from the initial list felt like a missed opportunity, especially given the country’s reputation as one of the most passionate K-pop markets in Southeast Asia.
