It's official, MrBeast has become the first YouTuber ever to hit 500 million subscribers.

Jimmy Donaldson is an American YouTuber who has become a global phenomenon through his YouTube channel. In just over 10 years, he has managed to become the most followed star on the video streaming platform. At the beginning of his journey, he was known for Let's Play content of video games like "Minecraft" and "Call of Duty." Eventually, he would start making challenge videos that would catch the attention of viewers. One of the first of these to take off was one where he counted from one to 100,000. 

As his channel started to pick up steam, Jimmy decided to drop out of college and pursue YouTube as a career full-time. With the help of his friends, he started to create more videos with the intent of going viral. Once they made a steady income, he started making videos where he would give away money. In 2018, Jimmy and his team started to garner attention after using his growing following to get more people to subscribe to the former most-subscribed YouTuber, PewDiePie. Using his channel funds, he bought billboards and bought seats at the Super Bowl just to put up a message asking people to subscribe to PewDiePie at the height of the PewDiePie vs. T-Series battle. 

By 2022, MrBeast managed to surpass the 100 million subs mark. Before the year ended, he ended up passing PewDiePie to become the most-subscribed YouTuber. In that very same year, his channel surpassed the total view count of one billion views in just 30 days. Once 2023 passed by, he had gained 100 million more, putting him a good lead ahead of every other YouTuber on the platform. As his followers grew, so did his production value and charitable efforts. Using this large net worth, MrBeast started a charity channel to help fund charitable organizations worldwide. His efforts have reached far and wide and were even felt here in the Philippines after he helped a local hospital in Davao City gain funds to provide life-changing surgeries for over 160 children. 

Now that Jimmy has surpassed the 500 million mark, all that's left for MrBeast to do is go forward. We are very much observing what could end up as the first YouTuber to ever hit one billion followers on the platform.
