ILOILO CITY – A group of hospital workers has filed a petition for a wage increase in Western Visayas region following the rejection of the petition of another organization.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-6 under the Department of Labor and Employment-6 announced that a group of hospital workers is asking for a P250 increase in the daily minimum wage.
DOLE-6 Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. said the Iloilo Doctors Hospital Employees Union sought a minimum daily salary of P800. The daily minimum wage in Western Visayas is P550.
Rodriguez, RTWPB-6 chairman, said the previous petition was junked on technical grounds as petitioner Unite Labor Panay is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
“The petitioner has no legal personality,” Rodriguez said.
The petition was filed months before the one-year ban on new wage petitions lapses.
The last wage increase in Western Visayas was implemented in November 2025. The RTWPB-6 will conduct a review once the one-year period lapses.
The last wage order implemented a P33 to P40 increase for private sector workers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City.
