A 45-year-old man wanted for a statutory rape case was arrested by operatives of the Las Piñas City Police on Wednesday night, June 10.
Col. Ricky Neron, chief of the Las Piñas City Police, identified the suspect as Roel, who had been the subject of an intensified manhunt after being tagged as a priority target.
Neron said the suspect was apprehended based on a standing warrant of arrest for statutory rape charges.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) in close coordination with the Station Intelligence Section (SIS).
Police said tracker teams located the suspect at around 10 p.m. in a residential area on Sitio Pandan Street, BF International Village, Barangay CAA.
After confirming his identity and location, authorities served the arrest order issued by Judge Mildred Jacinto Marquez, Presiding Judge of the Family Court Branch. No bail was recommended.
The suspect was brought to the Las Piñas City Police for booking, documentation, and custodial processing. He remains under police custody while awaiting the issuance of a commitment order from the court.
"Our tracker teams remain highly focused on apprehending individuals wanted for grave offenses against vulnerable minors to ensure they face the scales of justice. Successfully serving these non-bailable judicial orders reflects our determination to track down fugitives regardless of where they attempt to hide," Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Oliver Cinco said.
