- GMA Regional TV brought Kapuso stars closer to fans through a series of May festivities and regional events—from Antipolo to Bacolod—highlighting how local festivals continue to connect entertainment and communities across the Philippines.
For many Filipinos, May is a month defined by tradition and celebration.
Rooted in “Flores de Mayo,” the month-long Catholic devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the season is marked by daily prayers, rosary recitations, and the offering of flowers at church altars.
Beyond its religious significance, however, May has also become a peak season for public gatherings and regional festivities, an opportunity that GMA Regional TV has tapped this year by bringing Kapuso stars closer to audiences across the Philippines.
As summer sizzled across the archipelago, GMA Regional TV rolled out a series of Kapuso events that turned festival stages, malls, and public spaces into meeting points between artists and fans, stretching from Luzon to the Visayas.
The month-long run began on May 2 during the Antipolo Cityhood-Maytime Festival Grand Parade.
That evening, the celebration continued at the Ynares Center with a Kapuso Spotlight event featuring Sparkle artists Lee Victor, Allen Ansay, and Sofia Pablo, who drew cheers from fans through performances and interactive segments.
The momentum shifted to Bacolod City on May 14, where Sparkle stars Shaira Diaz and EA Guzman joined local residents at Paddle City along Magsaysay Avenue for a Kapuso Spotlight event.
On May 15, the festivities moved to Negros Occidental for the 13th Binalbagan Festival, where stars of “Apoy sa Dugo,” Larkin Castor, Derrick Monasterio, Ashley Ortega, and Elle Villanueva, joined the celebration through a Kapuso Fiesta along Don Pedro Yulo Street.
A day later, Pangasinan fans were treated to a Kapuso Mall Show at San Carlos Town Center in San Carlos City.
The month-long series concluded on May 31 in Bacolod City during the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival at SM City Bacolod with the stars of “The Master Cutter,” Max Collins, Charlie Fleming, and Prince Carlos, joining festival-goers in a final Kapuso Spotlight event that capped off weeks of regional celebrations.
While the appearances mainly highlighted GMA’s roster of talents, it also reflected a broader shift in entertainment engagement, one that places regional audiences at the center of fan experiences.
