SM Green Movement's Waste Free Future advocacy strengthened by 7,500 volunteers nationwide for Q2 Coastal Cleanup

Volunteer base grows 50% more for World Oceans Day 2026

More volunteers united with SM Supermalls in diverting waste away from oceans for this year's World Oceans Day Coastal Cleanup.

From 5,000 volunteers the previous year, around 7,500 partner advocates, SM employees, and civilians assembled to lend their time and effort for the pursuit of a Waste Free Future.

Organized by SM Cares across 10 of SM's most-loved malls nationwide, the collective effort diverted a total of 19,000kg--thanks to the volume of volunteers, cleanup also ended faster than usual.

To enrich the experience of participants, WWF Philippines provided expert insights through a special "Trash Talk" which further educated volunteers on proper waste management, while a Zumba warm-up, live DJ, and roving photographer kept volunteer energy high and documented the impact.
