Razon's infra units mobilize emergency power, water after Mindanao quake
Companies controlled by billionaire Enrique K. Razon Jr. have deployed emergency relief operations in Mindanao following the devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake.
Manila Water Co., International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), and power distributor Primelectric Holdings Inc. spearheaded the private sector response.
The corporate coalition dispatched emergency capital, industrial equipment, and vital provisions to municipal governments struggling to coordinate local rehabilitation networks. Total economic damage from the disaster has already climbed past ₱1 billion.
Manila Water deployed mobile water treatment assets to the disaster zone. The units are generating potable water for hundreds of displaced families currently housed in state evacuation centers.
Concurrently, Primelectric distributed solar-powered lighting grids and industrial cooling fans to temporary shelters experiencing prolonged blackouts.
The Department of Energy reported that more than 800,000 household connections lost electricity across Mindanao after the tremor triggered widespread transmission line tripping and automated safety shutdowns.
The Razon conglomerate also mobilized emergency fuel reserves to power municipal generator sets, alongside shipments of rice and canned goods.
Local government officials stated the private supplies will augment constrained state reserves as authorities begin inspecting compromised commercial real estate, highways, and public buildings.
