The Eastern Police District (EPD) reported that the suspect, known as “Mimi,” was apprehended during a joint operation along M. Eusebio Avenue in Barangay San Miguel, Pasig City, at around 12:05 a.m. on Monday, June 8.
The arrest was carried out by personnel from the Station Intelligence Section of the Pasig City Police Station, Lope de Vega Municipal Police Station, CIDG–Northern Samar, and other units.
Authorities said the warrant of arrest against the suspect was issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19 in Catarman, Northern Samar, for five counts of statutory rape under Article 266-A, paragraph (d) of the Revised Penal Code.
Police records revealed that the victim, while washing dishes at home, was called to her bedroom by the suspect, where she was allegedly assaulted.
The suspect is now detained at the Lope de Vega Municipal Police Station.
Brig. Gen. Melecio M. Buslig Jr., EPD officer-in-charge, commended the coordinated effort, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration in apprehending fugitives.
“This successful operation sends a clear message that the law will eventually catch up with those who seek to evade justice. The arrest of a fugitive facing serious charges, particularly those involving the abuse of minors, reflects the determination of our police forces to protect the vulnerable and ensure accountability,” Buslig said.
He reaffirmed EPD’s commitment to nationwide anti-criminality campaigns through intelligence-driven operations and strengthened cooperation among agencies.
