'Habagat', easterlies to bring rain showers, thunderstorms on Independence Day
Most of the archipelago will experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather and chances of rain showers and thunderstorms on Independence Day, June 12, due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) and the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its special weather outlook, PAGASA said the habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur.
Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over the rest of the country, particularly Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula, due to the easterlies.
PAGASA said light to moderate southerly to southwesterly winds will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon, while light to moderate easterly to southeasterly winds will affect the rest of the archipelago.
Sea conditions will remain slight to moderate nationwide.
The public is advised to stay alert for possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms.
