A 37-year-old father and his 57-year-old grandfather were arrested in Manila on Monday, June 8, after a 12-year-old girl reported years of alleged abuse, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The child filed a complaint early that morning following an incident involving her grandfather.
Police said the child revealed that her grandfather had allegedly abused her repeatedly since she was 10 years old. She also accused her father of committing similar acts between 2024 and May 2026.
Acting on the complaint, authorities immediately conducted follow-up operations that led to the arrest of the grandfather at around 11:30 a.m. and the father at about 10 p.m. on the same day.
Investigators said the victim had remained silent for years out of fear, as she lived in the same household as the suspects, before finally seeking help.
The operation was carried out by personnel from the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 6.
The father is facing charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and Republic Act No. 8353.
The grandfather is expected to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 7610, 8353, and Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code, which covers acts of lasciviousness.
Both suspects are currently under police custody pending inquest proceedings before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
