EPEX wraps up 'Youth' series with 'Youth : Epilogue' comeback album
K-pop boy group EPEX has returned to the music scene with the release of its seventh mini-album “Youth : Epilogue,” marking both a continuation and conclusion of its “Youth” album series.
The comeback follows last summer’s full-length album “Youth Chapter 3: Romantic Youth,” which completed the group’s main “Youth” narrative. With “Youth : Epilogue,” EPEX shifts toward a new phase that explores young people standing at the edge of adulthood after passing through intense and uncertain formative years.
Throughout the “Youth” series, the group has depicted themes of adolescence, including ambition, emotional struggle, love, and emptiness, drawing from both personal experiences and the lives of people in their generation.
The new release contains four tracks led by the title song “Echo,” which features a minimalist early 2000s inspired sound built on a rhythmic groove. Members Jeff, Baekseung, and Ayden contributed to the lyrics, reflecting the group’s growing involvement in the creative process.
Member Wish said the members’ participation made the project especially meaningful.
“Since the members were highly involved in this album, I think it became an especially meaningful and heartfelt project for us,” Wish said. “We are really excited to see Zenith’s reactions because we will be showing sides of EPEX that we have never revealed before, without holding anything back. Just imagining ourselves enjoying the stage makes me want to show it to you as soon as possible. Please look forward to it.”
The album continues with “매일의 내일 (Better Days),” a pop track that highlights EPEX’s bright energy while reflecting on hopes for better days during the transition between youth and adulthood. Baekseung contributed to the lyrics, while Ayden also worked on writing and composition for “Boys In The Band,” a hip hop influenced track combining band style instrumentation with a steady rhythm. The song centers on companionship and the group’s connection with fans.
The final track, “사랑 아직 잘 몰라도 (Call it love),” is an emotional rock ballad that expresses longing and uncertainty in love.
Baekseung said the album captures a wide range of emotions and reflects both excitement and pressure surrounding the comeback.
“Because it has been a while since our last comeback, I feel both excitement and nervousness, and I really want to meet Zenith again,” he said. “The title track “Echo” represents a new beginning for EPEX and for our career, so we worked very hard on it. Especially this time, since we participated in most of the tracks in the album, I am grateful that we were able to tell more of our own story. Please send us lots of support and interest.”
With “Youth : Epilogue,” EPEX closes a defining chapter in its discography while signaling a transition into a more self-directed and mature artistic direction as the group moves into its next era.
