The "New York Times" has named Camiguin as one of its top island destinations for its "52 Places to Go" list.
Writer Patrick Scott describes Camiguin as "a water lover's paradise with sandbars and hot springs." A spotlight was also shed on Mambajao, the iconic Sunken Cemetery, and the annual Lanzones Festival. The writer also took note of the island being a hot spot for sports events, noting the recently hosted triathlon 5150 Camiguin last May.
This isn't a new high for Camiguin's attraction to travelers. Just last January, Camiguin's tourism numbers hit a new high. In data shared by Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo, Camiguin's tourism numbers grew from 288,558 in 2024 to 397,818 in 2025. From the tally, 376,322 were domestic tourists while 21,496 were foreign visitors.
Other destinations listed in the "52 Places to Go" story include various locations worldwide. Among its top places to visit are India, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Poland, to name a few. At the top of its list sits the US, emphasizing the upcoming celebration of its 250 years of independence.
