Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte became the first recipient of the Exemplar City Mayor Award, conferred by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), a distinction recognizing outstanding local chief executives for remarkable governance and leadership.
FFCCCII said the award honors city leaders who demonstrate integrity in public service, prudent management of public funds, promotion of a business-friendly environment, and effective implementation of development programs.
The selection of this year’s awardee was made by a panel of judges led by former finance secretary Roberto de Ocampo, Metrobank Foundation President Philip Francisco Dy, Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) President Carlo Enrico Lazatin, Management Association of the Philippines President Donald Patrick Lim, and Association of Foundations Chair and Zuellig Foundation President Austere Panadero.
The recognition was presented during the FFCCCII and Filipino-Chinese community’s celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day and the 25th Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day at the SMX Convention Center on Wednesday night, June 8.
The ceremony was led by FFCCCII President Victor Lim and Executive Vice President Jeffrey Ng and was attended by Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
Belmonte expressed gratitude for the recognition and vowed to further strengthen transparent, efficient, and people-centered governance in Quezon City.
